Public invited to participate in citywide Scavenger Hunt on Friday, July 1
Find oversized cups and win free smoothies for a year
DES MOINES, Iowa – You may not know you’re on a scavenger hunt… but if you stumble upon a three-foot-tall, bright orange McDonald’s McCafé Mango Pineapple Real Fruit Smoothie cup on Friday, July 1, you’ll know you are one of 26 lucky scavenger hunt winners in the Greater Des
Moines area!

All McDonald’s restaurants in the Greater Des Moines area will hide giant sized McCafé Mango Pineapple Real Fruit Smoothie cups within a one mile radius of each location as part of its first-ever McCafé Scavenger Hunt to celebrate its newest smoothie flavor: Mango Pineapple. The new flavor, available in all locations starting July 1, features a combination of fresh citrusy pineapple and sweet mangos blended with low-fat yogurt, ice and fruit juice concentrate.

Beginning at 7 a.m., the public is welcome to begin their search around McDonald’s locations to find one of the giant cups, each of which includes the address to the McDonald’s restaurant to return the cup and collect the prize. The first person to find each one and return it to the corresponding restaurant will receive a year’s worth of free McCafé beverages of their choice.

The cup reads: “Congratulations! You’ve found the hidden McCafé Mango Pineapple Smoothie. Return this Real Fruit Smoothie to the manager at the McDonald’s listed below and you’ll receive FREE McCafé for a year.”

The brightly-colored, oversized cups will be hidden at undisclosed times prior to the morning of July 1 in public locations near the restaurants. The scavenger hunt will take place rain or shine. Nearly 140 McDonalds in Iowa and Nebraska are participating in the contest.
