KC SCHOOLS ARE LOVIN’ IT THANKS TO McTEACHER’S NIGHT FUNDRAISER

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Local schoolteachers will exchange their lesson plans and textbooks for spatulas and aprons to show support for McTeacher’s Night, a unique fundraiser that has raised nearly $400,000 for regional schools since it’s inception in 2005.

More than half of the McDonald’s Restaurants in the Kansas City metro area are participating again this year in McTeacher’s Night. Most of the community fundraisers take place between 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4. Because of schools’ calendars, some local McTeacher’s Nights may vary and occur throughout the month of October. (for a full list of participating McDonald’s please call or email Megan Neher.)

All school levels including elementary, middle and senior high schools are represented on McTeacher’s Night and includes more than 100 Kansas   City area public, private and parochial schools. McTeacher’s Night provides students and parents the opportunity to increase school pride and generate funds for their school’s educational programs. Area McDonald’s donate approximately 20 percent of sales during McTeacher’s Night to a designated school, PTA or school program.

“We have a lot of fun each year with McTeacher’s Night,” said Lisa Essig, president of the Kansas City McDonald’s cooperative group of restaurants. “It gives us an
opportunity to get to know some of the people in our community, show support for a local school and have fun working alongside some local educators who work
hard every day to teach our children.”

“Most of all it is fun to see the students’ reactions when they see their teachers working behind the counter at McDonald’s or hear their principal on the intercom in the drive-thru!”
