KC-AREA McDONALD’S PROVIDE MORE WAYS FOR CUSTOMERS TO“GIVE A HAND” TO FAMILIES IN NEED

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Through the annual “Give A Hand” in-restaurant fundraiser, local Kansas City area community members can help raise funds to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City.

Beginning today through November 20, local residents are invited to visit a participating McDonald’s restaurant to show their support for local families in need by purchasing a paper “Give A Hand.” New this year, customers can donate to the Charity in varying denominations $1, $3, or $5, and all proceeds from the “Give A Hand” fundraiser will support Kansas City’s two Ronald McDonald Houses and Family Room , which is celebrating its 30th anniversary in the city.

“Last year along with the community, McDonald’s customer and employee support, the two Ronald McDonald Houses served more than 7,000 children and families. The Family Room inside Children’s Mercy Hospital gave respite and rest to nearly 45,000 families of in-patient children,” said Anne Dykes, Major Gifts Officer for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City. “This is a very easy way for local residents to continue work together as a community to help families with seriously ill children.”

In addition to the in-restaurant fundraising program, customers may also participate in the “Give A Hand” online sweepstakes. Customers are invited to write messages of support for RMHC on their hand, take a picture, and submit it online via @McDonalds Twitter page for the chance to help RMHC and win prizes. Each day throughout the campaign, three winners will be selected from the submitted hand photos to receive a McDonald’s-branded prize pack, $250 cash prize, and a $500 donation in their name to their local RMHC Chapter. More information on the sweepstakes can be found at http://bit.ly/mcdgah. See Official Rules for details. No Purchase Necessary.

Nearly, $225,000 was contributed to the Boxes to help locally.
