For a second time in Kansas City, Cancer Treatment Centers of America sponsors a free public cancer information seminar spotlighting local cancer non-profits and programming by top health professionals
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The general public is invited to a free evening health and cancer seminar at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 20 at Union Station. The seminar will feature two speakers, displays from many local cancer-related non-profits and dinner.
Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) is sponsoring the educational event as a way to unite cancer support groups in the city and educate the public about cancer-fighting initiatives for individuals. The health conference is titled “Creating a Healthier You” and will include two presentations from the Tulsa hospital’s cancer treatment practitioners offering practical information on critical health topics:
-Healthy eating – including specific cancer-fighting dietetic research and how it relates to holiday eating;
and
-Naturopathic medicine – including research findings on acupuncture, natural medicinal options, massage, homeopathy and exercise.
“Creating a Healthier You” will also include a delicious and healthy dinner as well as the opportunity to meet a variety of cancer organizations throughout the metro area. Anyone is invited to attend, but should RSVP at 800-295-9333. Space is limited.

The following speakers will present back-to-back 20 minute presentations:
Healthy Eating – Jason Stevens, MA, RD, LD, is a registered and licensed dietitian with his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in dietetics. Stevens, who leads a team of experienced nutritionists, specializes in oncology at CTCA in Tulsa, Okla. The team takes a proactive approach to nutritional care for its cancer patients. Their goal for patients is to help strengthen the body’s immune system by teaching good nutrition and setting goals based on the patient’s individual needs.
Naturopathic Medicine – Katrina Bogdon, ND, FABNO, is a naturopathic clinician at CTCA in Tulsa, Okla. She is part of a unique approach to patient care. Bogden and her team of naturopaths work with oncologists to complement patients’ traditional cancer treatments with natural therapies, such as nutritional supplementation, botanical medicine, homeopathy, hydrotherapy and counseling.
